Don’t Piss and Moan About Elected Officials
If You Can’t Be Bothered to Vote
So, I voted today. It was the first time I ever voted and it was such…dull, unexciting event (the process). You like show up and if you’re registered, present your photo ID, and then a poll worker presents you with a ballot.
I live in Kansas City, MO and NOT in one of the suburbs either. I live in the inner city, though its really more residential. Its not crime ridden or anything, even though someone broke into our home over the summer. But in any case, my polling place, which is in a nearby church, didn’t have any “electronic voting booths”.
And while we’re on the subject of electronic voting booths, its FUCKING BEWILDERING that we have cell phones that can take pictures and video, and portable gaming devices with color and sound, and we CAN’T properly program electronic voting machines.
COME ON. That wreaks of tampering on the part of poll workers…and higher officials. Even if said cell phones and gaming devices come from Japan. That’s just patheti-sad.
So anyway, I had a paper ballot (mind you, I did this when polls first opened). It worked just like any multiple choice test, pick your candidate, fill in the bubble beside your candidate. There were also several judges, propositions, and (Missouri state) constitutional ammendments.
I voted a straight democratic ticket, and voted to retain all judges (I had no clue who they were though). I voted to support several (three) ammendments.
I hope the light rail thing passes, because (although I appreciate KCATA), the Metro (the city bus) is broken. The Metro doesn’t go anywhere…
Anyway, I not here to tell you who to vote for. But if you can vote, DO IT. Also, I don’t to hear why something I voted for is/isn’t evil, bad, wrong.
