I almost burned down my house! With the toaster oven! And I am an excellent cook!
I was making (Italian bread) pizza and the slice I had was a little over whelming to the tiny toaster oven, so some cheese got caught on one of it’s heat tube thingys (you know, one of those tubes that glow red to bring the oven to temperature). And anyway, I readjusted the pan, so the cheese and bread wouldn’t touch the tubes and that worked…at a lower temperature.
When I go back to turn the heat up to like 450 degrees, the cheese caught on fire! The cheese caught on FIRE, y’all. It hadn’t been in there very long either. So, I immediately grabbed the cord and unplugged the toaster oven. Then I rushed the food out and the cheese set the pizza on fire! I blow out the pizza in one big breath, then I remembered the toaster oven itself was still on fire!
So I opened up the toaster oven (thankfully, the fire was only on this holely, metal thing near the heat tube) and I blew it out in two breaths. And then I waited!
OMG, that was like the longest two minutes of my life.
*sighs* Thankfully though, I cleaned out the oven and everything works fine and it still works. But I swear to Og, I thought the house was going to burn down and I’d end up like the teacher (the one who had the worst death ever) on Final Destination.
But man, that was damn scary!
