My first day (well, night) was nice and mundane.
I didn’t know if I was going to be working yesterday or not, until I called in (BG Services Offices). Alas, the connection I had was shoddy and the people in the cafeteria (I was on a pay phone) were loud. So, important bits of info were lost to me. Rather than have the supervisor repeat herself again and again and again, I just went with it.
I was ordered to go to the Centennial Building in downtown Kansas City, at 5:30 p.m. …Or so I thought. I guess my supervisor sent me elsewhere, but if she did, why bother giving me the address and the name of the supervisor elsewhere?
Perhaps she was busy and got mixed up, or I just completely messed up on my end. In any case, it worked itself out when I got to the Centennial Building.
My boss and coworkers were really nice (SCORE!), they’re all relatively new, but the place seems to be great chance for advancement. Now I need money, but I will never again try to take on a leadership position. Not after the debacle of my senior year in high school.
Anyway, the job itself is easy. I had to clean the 8th floor (the top floor). It was largely a bunch of cubicles, so I had to collect the trash, followed by low dusting, and then vacuum. The only problem I can see is time constraints, but I can see that being nothing by next week.
In short, it was fun. I hope they don’t change anything. Everyone was really nice.
They only thing I dislike about it is traveling by bus. It is seriously cold out (where’s my global warming, dammit!), and I have this awful cold. I also dislike being downtown at night and having to walk to catch the Troost bus. But my mom’s gonna give me a ride home, so alls well that ends well.
*High School Debacle*
My senior year, we was doing this little senior-shadow thing for potential freshman. And everyone had to do it, no one could refuse. Of course me being me, shy, introverted, dull, boring, and bashful, it didn’t work out. At all.
The poor girl who had to shadow me was abandoned by me at second period, and my teacher just wouldn’t let it go my last few days (nothin’ serious, just some light ribbin’). Ah, those were the days.
I doubt she’s reading this, but I am sorry. I am not a people person, and if I had had my choice, I would have gotten you someone else.
